Michael Schur was inspired to create "A Man On the Inside" after watching the Chilean documentary "The Mole Agent"
Line of Events
Charles, a retired man, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. He says: "The Mole Agent" is a powerful documentary because it makes people feel incredibly similar regardless of age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very reduced way as, «I have to call my mom.» In our show, we tried to do a similar thing with the tone: Basically, does our show contribute to that feeling of wanting to call moms?.
I loved it!
Remake of El agente topo (2020). What I was expecting was a clichéd comedy about someone undercover, their crazy antics & and so on.
Instead we get a series about a man who not only helped others, but also helped himself to heal from the loss of his wife
This great series wasn’t full of laughs & clichés, during some parts I was emotional because of the way the themes were handled – like the tenant with memory problems. However, not everything was serious that made you feel depressed or bored going through the episodes, that’s why the series was worth watching because you wanted to see how it played out – Who stole it, etc.
The cast was great, the cinematography & locations beautifully done
I really hope they make another season & bring an excellent mix of laughs, emotions, script, locations and cast like they did in Charles’s next detective-style adventures as they did in this one.
